WHY I WALK

“I fundraise and walk each year as a member of Team Tara in honor and in memory of my husband Jim Collins, who passed away in 2019 after a fifteen month battle with Stage IV metastatic colon cancer. He was 45 years old. After Jim’s death I struggled to find my purpose and to establish a new direction for my life. I knew I wanted to be someone that Jim would be proud of, while at the same time keeping his legacy and spirit alive. I wanted to give back to Dana-Farber to thank all of the countless doctors and medical professionals that treated and cared for him. And most of all I want for someone to find a cure for colon cancer, all types of cancer really, so no family has to endure this type of pain and loss in the future. Team Tara and the Jimmy Fund Walk allow me the opportunity to do all of these things each year and give me a renewed sense of purpose in my life. I’m already looking forward to this year’s walk!”
